An interesting development. As you say, by the time they hit the workplace, they had better know these new systems inside out if they want to succeed. And I doubt the students will have things any easier for using AI; quite the reverse, I would predict (from an Oxbridge college at any rate). The slide rule was once the AI 'cheat' for Maths students, but in exchange for not having to do the calculations longhand, they had to demonstrate a much more in-depth understanding of the underlying principles.
