Chances are you're right. Does Australia not have laws governing food labelling as to origin and content? The EU has quite strict laws on this, which is great for confounding those who would dishonestly try to manipulate people into buying what they really don't want. We used to have these laws in the UK, too. Sadly, they've fallen by the wayside - we can now be legally poisoned by all manner of lovely stuff! 😢
