Don’t be too hard on your fellow citizens. There have been 4 years of gerrymandering and voter suppression (bolstered by almost half a century of those pushing for the principles of project 2025) to get this bizarre result. Very clever of the other side (as it turns out) to keep shrieking about a stolen election for 4 years. Now we have what could genuinely be a stolen election, it’s hard to cry foul with any credibility.

One thing has heartened me over the past 24 hours and that is to see some of the reactions both from within the US (eg I thought the response as a post-election briefing from Meidas Touch by the 3 Meiselas brothers hit just the right tone) and from elsewhere in the world eg from the EU where, at long last, official voices have stopped sane-washing the man and his cronies and are treating them as the danger they are. It doesn’t remove the danger, it’s late in the day, but it’s good to hear.

I can well understand your desire to cut yourself off from the entire world – you are by no means alone in that – and taking a break from everything is probably where a lot of people are going to go right now, and I’m sure it will help. But don’t make it forever, just for as long as you need to. You'll be missed. 💙💙💙
