I enjoyed this, although because of the way I use Medium, I don't think I'm the target audience. I joined to give me a place to write short pieces and have an audience to interact with. I read many more stories than I write, so I know I'm not 'working' the algorithm to best effect financially, but it delivers interaction with readers and enough money to cover my subscription which is all I ask.

And clearly the finer details of the algorithm are not disclosed (for good reason - bots would be all over it) and for the same reasons, it changes fairly frequently, which can be disconcerting when you first encounter it.
