I have learnt something I never knew about Medium. It decides whether things are genuinely read or not. I had no idea. I too am a fast reader - Dickens in a day type fast. I suppose it would be too much to expect Medium's AI to be able to distinguish between genuine reading and fast scrolling, but it feels somewhat arbitrary that it discounts fast readers.
Something else I've learnt recently (this one's entirely on me) - it's possible to clap for a story on the sidebar, you don't have to even scroll to the end. There's a whole tangled web of tactics on this platform that I'd never suspected. and don't as yet feel inclined to explore. I'm happy just to enjoy the reading.
