I'm thinking you could take up the mantle of PD James and have a limerick-writing central character (as opposed to her Auden-style poet detective). The perfect character might already be fully formed in your head - it's just a case of finding the right context to let them out onto the page in their own stories. I'm seeing the headlines:

Will Hull's debut crime novel "There Once Was A Gumshoe..." climbs the bestseller charts.
