Interesting and heartening that rewilding is being taken up as much as it is, on quite a large scale in some places. Perhaps too little too late - who knows - but better than doing nothing.

I loved the opening quote. And I've just recently reread When I Fell From the Sky by Juliane Koepcke. Early 1970s, when she was 16ish, the plane she and her mother were in broke up in middair and she fell into the rain forest. She was the only survivor, and was in the rainforest nearly 2 weeks. The book isn't brilliantly written but very dramatic about the crash, and also interesting about her parents and their work in the rainforests - it was the knowledge she'd gleaned that allowed her to survive. It was also the sort of knowledge that humankind needed to be listening to back then.
