It seems a factor of modern life somehow. There was an expectation that covid would go away, so we are now encouraged to act as though it has. We're bored with it so we'll ignore it now - the modern media hates stories that won't end 'nicely'. Covid, it seems, should have the decency to know when it has outstayed its welcome.
Meanwhile, covid death figures remain high (way higher than flu and stratospherically higher than the so-called "bad cold"). I'm not clinically vulnerable myself but have friends who are. I see their day-to-day living made difficult and dangerous just for lack of a bit of joined-up thinking.
None of this bodes well for the next pandemic.
