It speaks to a world where woman is undoubtedly chattel, and could maybe be seen as 'of its time' but that we're here and now (21st century) and this exact view of women is still current, widespread, and indeed hankered for in places where woman have found a voice, makes for something distasteful in whole composition of the work.
