Not to mention the loss of helium from the balloon. It's an element used in some critical manufacturing processes, we have a finite supply underground in <wherever it is, I forget>, we can't manufacture it, and it doesn't stick around to be re-extracted, it heads off to the upper atmosphere and leaks away into space. And still we pump it into party balloons.
