Thought provoking stuff indeed. As a species we seem to have evolved a habit of not really caring for anything that doesn't personally affect us in the here and now - it takes effort to get out of that mindset. That isn't to say a lot of people don't work for the general good, but that in itself becomes incompatible with holding positions of power. It doesn't bode well for future generations.
