We - as delegates at an international conference - were once taken to visit the Kennedy museum in Boston. 2 things struck me:
1 - the casually racist language in the official presentation that started the tour. There was hilarity from the international audience at the carelessly slung stereotyping of several of the nationalities represented there.
2 - the total airbrushing of Kennedy's personal life in the museum's 'story'. Not even a mention of Marilyn Munroe as I recall. It made it all rather infantilised and superficial. The UK might be criticised for its 'warts and all' approach to these things but I prefer the honesty of that approach.
Thanks for an interesting article.
